Shop Leader

 

Reports to: Multi-Unit Shop Manager

Job Summary: The Shop Leader will oversee the daily operations of the ice cream shop and support the Multi-Unit Shop Manager and Shop Crew Members to ensure goals and objectives are achieved.

Responsibilities:

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the Essential Intent of Hattie Jane’s Creamery: “To create a truly Southern experience through ice cream.” 

  • Understand completely all policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines and training programs and ensure that all are followed and completed on a timely basis.

  • Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the shop, employees, and guests.

  • Monitor compliance with health and fire regulations regarding food preparation and serving and building maintenance.

  • Trains staff for the shop location. 

  • Organizes and oversees the schedules and work of staff.

  • Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive. 

  • Handles coaching and accountability of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.

DUTIES/GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Oversees staff and fulfills staffing needs for regular hours, as well as special events or high-traffic times. 

  • Maintains and motivates a positive sales team through communication, incentives, and evaluations.

  • Confirms daily sales reports and cash receipts; ensures monies are deposited regularly, and reports are submitted as prescribed by company policies. 

  • Addresses Guest needs and resolves issues, ensuring positive and long-term Guest relationships.

  • Executes goals and campaigns for sales, marketing, and budgeting. 

  • Oversees and maximizes shop budget and product inventory, purchasing, and sales.

  • Ensures inventory data is correct by performing spot inventory counts and checks.

  • Ensures that the store always looks noticeably clean and inviting. 

  • Places and rotates merchandise to attract positive attention from customers. 

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

OPERATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure that all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed in accordance with the shop’s receiving policies and procedures.

  • Schedule and receive food and beverage deliveries, checking delivery contents to verify product quality and quantity.

  • Maintain food and equipment inventories and keep inventory records.

  • Review work procedures and operational problems to determine ways to improve service, performance, or safety.

  • Arrange for equipment maintenance and repairs, and coordinate a variety of services, such as waste removal and pest control.

  • Spreadsheet Software: Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets

Qualifications:

  • Be 18 years of age or older (if under 18, must start as an Ice Cream Crew Member and earn internal promotion).

  • Have reliable transportation to and from work.

  • Must pass the federally mandated E-verify process.

  • At least 1 year experience Front of House Operations and / or experience as an Assistant Manager in the food and beverage industry.

  • Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and dining room personnel and guests.

  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 25 pounds.

  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 8 hours).

  • Be able to work weekend and evening shifts.

  • Must be self-disciplined, take initiative, have leadership ability, and must be outgoing. 

  • Must have a pleasant, polite manner and a neat and clean appearance. 

  • Must be able to handle the pressures of simultaneously coordinating a wide range of activities and recommend appropriate solutions to shop problems. 

  • Must possess good communication skills for dealing with diverse staff.
