Efren, the Backbone of Hattie Jane's Creamery Delivery Operations

At Hattie Jane's Creamery, we believe that exceptional service extends beyond the creation of our handcrafted ice cream. It’s about the people who work tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure our product reaches customers with the same care and attention that goes into making it. This month, we’re proud to feature Efren Acosta, our dedicated delivery driver, whose reliability and commitment have become integral to our operations and missions. From ensuring timely deliveries to embodying the values of our company, Efren plays a crucial role in our team’s success.

Efren’s journey is as rich and fascinating as the flavors we serve at Hattie Jane’s. After relocating from Texas to California at the age of two, he spent most of his life there and had a distinguished 30-year career as an Los Angeles police officer. His experiences are nothing short of remarkable, including a memorable moment when he appeared in US Magazine while towing Eva Mendes' car. Efren's superpower of choice would be the ability to transport himself anywhere, anytime. After retiring in 2012, he spent time taking his younger son to school before transitioning to a limo driver job in 2017. He moved to Tennessee in 2021 to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren.

Since joining us in January 2024, Efren has been an invaluable asset to our team. His presence has made operations smoother and the atmosphere brighter with his quick-witted humor. Efren’s typical day involves arriving at the shop, loading and delivering ice cream and supplies to our locations. 

He quips, “My pre-shift ritual is simply praying that the [ice cream] tubs don’t fall over and get mixed up.” Thankfully, no major mishaps have occurred, and Efren enjoys each delivery, especially the chance to interact with our employees. His favorite flavor is Cookie Jar Supreme, a popular choice, reflecting his impeccable taste.

Efren’s dedication to supporting our kitchen manager, Autumn, and ensuring that all flavors are stocked drives his commitment to his role. He expresses his enthusiasm for working at Hattie Jane’s, attributing his enjoyment to the supportive staff. As for future goals, Efren’s focus is simply on making it to the next day.
