Meet Tim: The Steady Hand Behind Every Scoop
If you've enjoyed a scoop of Hattie Jane's lately, there's a good chance Tim had a hand in making it happen.
As our new Kitchen Production Manager, Tim oversees the heart of what we do—crafting the small-batch ice cream that fills every freezer at each Hattie Jane's location. While most guests may never meet the people behind the scenes, they're the reason every scoop tastes just like home. And we're thrilled that Tim is leading the way.
Originally from just outside Arlington, Virginia, Tim grew up with history right in his backyard. Some of his favorite memories are exploring the museums in Washington, D.C., spending afternoons at the National Zoo, and hopping on the Metro to discover somewhere new. Those experiences sparked an appreciation for places where people come together, learn something, and make lasting memories.
Before joining Hattie Jane's, Tim worked and managed at Starbucks, where he discovered a genuine love for the craft of food service. It wasn't just about making drinks—it was about consistency, attention to detail, and creating something people looked forward to every day. When life brought him to Columbia, Tennessee, he found Hattie Jane's and knew this was an opportunity he wanted to be part of.
Today, Tim helps produce the ice cream that supplies every Hattie Jane's shop. It's a role that requires organization, precision, and a calm approach to every challenge—qualities that fit him perfectly. His mornings usually begin with the Free Beer & Hot Wings Show playing in the background and an energy drink in hand before diving into the day's production schedule. And when unexpected challenges pop up (because they always do in a busy kitchen), Tim relies on thoughtful planning, clear communication, and a level head, trusting that everything will come together on time.
Those steady leadership qualities make him such a natural fit for this role. Behind every flavor is a team working hard to make sure each batch meets the standard our guests know and love, and Tim has quickly become an invaluable part of that process.
Honoring Two Incredible Team Members
As we welcome Tim into this leadership role, we also want to celebrate two amazing women who helped build the foundation of our production kitchen. For the past ten years, Kara and Kaitlyn Blalock have poured their hearts into making the ice cream that has become Hattie Jane's. From early mornings and long production days to countless seasonal flavors and special recipes, they've helped shape the quality and consistency that our guests have come to expect. Now, they're each stepping into exciting new chapters.
Kara has been promoted into a management role, overseeing both our Columbia and Murfreesboro shops. Her leadership, dedication, and deep understanding of our brand make her an incredible fit, and we know she'll continue making a lasting impact in this new position.
Kaitlyn is following another passion as she continues her education while also teaching Pilates. Watching her pursue new goals while carrying the same drive and work ethic she's always brought to Hattie Jane's makes us incredibly proud. One of the greatest joys of growing a company is watching the people who helped build it continue to grow, too. While we'll certainly miss seeing Kara and Kaitlyn in production every day, we couldn't be more excited for what lies ahead for both of them.
As one chapter closes, another begins, and that's exactly what makes this season so special. Tim is stepping into a role supported by an incredible legacy, and we're confident he'll continue moving our kitchen forward with the same care, consistency, and heart that define Hattie Jane's.
