Michaela’s Story: From Donelson to Multi Unit Leadership at Hattie Jane’s Creamery

For Michaela, Donelson isn’t just where she works—it’s home. Born and raised in Nashville, TN, she’s been part of the Donelson community since the fourth grade and has no plans to leave anytime soon. With its perfect location—close to downtown, the airport, and all of Nashville within a short drive—she sees Donelson as the ideal place to put down roots. Now, as a new multi-unit shop manager for Hattie Jane’s Creamery, she’s building her career right where she wants to be.

Before stepping into her role each day, Michaela starts her mornings with a little self-care—walking her dog, Milo, and spending time with her three cats, Jarvis, O, and Theo. That love for home and family carries into her work, where she’s helped create a warm, welcoming environment for both her team and Hattie Jane’s guests. She credits the close-knit Donelson staff and their shared experience of opening the shop together as something truly special.

“What I love most about working at Hattie Jane’s is how involved the owners are with the company. It’s so refreshing to see how much they love their business,” Michaela shares. Some of her favorite memories include visits to Greendoor Farm, where the team got to see firsthand where their ingredients come from, and the excitement of opening Donelson’s doors for the first time.

When she’s not managing shops and making sure every scoop is served with a smile, Michaela’s passions include baking, painting, and spending time with her loved ones. She dreams of continuing to grow with Hattie Jane’s professionally while working on personal goals like finishing her home renovations and starting a family.

Of course, no conversation with a Hattie Jane’s team member would be complete without talking about ice cream. Michaela’s go-to order? A scoop of honeycomb and chocolate—together, of course. And if she could dream up a new flavor? Chocolate ice cream with strawberry chunks mixed in. (We have to admit—that sounds pretty delicious!)
